Need Planning Permission
You will need to apply for planning permission
if any of the following apply.
Your planned building or structure would be closer to
any road than the nearest part of the original house, unless there would still
be at least 20 metres from the new building to any road. Please note. Road
includes roads, footpaths, bridleways and byways.
If the addition of the planned structure would mean that
more than half the area of the land around the "original house" would be
covered, by additions.
If the planned building is to be used for something
other than domestic purposes.
Your building would be more than 3 metres high, or more
than 4 metres high if it has a rigid roof. Measurements are taken from the
highest ground next to the structure.
If your house is a listed building and the new addition
would have a volume of more than 10 cubic metres.
If you live in a conservation area, national park, area
of outstanding natural beauty, or the broads and you want to put up a structure
with a volume of 10 cubic metres or more. It may be allowed as an extension.
